both, neither, either 정리 

둘 중에서 지칭할 때 

both(+복수 명사) 두 ~ 모두
either(+단수 명사)두 ~중 아무 거시나 하나 
neither(+단수 명사)두 ~ 모두 아닌

예문: 
Scott owns two houses. Both houses are downtown.
Who do you think will win the game? I am not sure. Either team could win.
Have you seen these movies? Yes, but neither was very good.

 

both  VS  either

예문:
I want to visit Tahiti and Guam. Let's go to both islands when we are retired.
Should we go to Tahiti or Guam? Either island would be great.

 

not ~either = neither 

I tried a swim class and a dance class at my gym, but I liked neither.
또는 I tried a swim class and a Dane calss at my gym, but I did not like either.

We called you twice, but you answered neither time. 
또는 we called you twice, but you did not answer either time.


*** neither 도 이중부정 금지
My sister likes reading mystery and science fiction, but I like neither.

 

both(+복명): 복동/ (n)either (+단수명사): 단수 동사

예문:
Both shirts look good on you! Thanks. But neither shirt is my style.
Do you want this table or that one? Either seems all right.

예문:

Both of Mila's roommates are away this weekend, so she invited some friends to watch a movies.
Which do you prefer, jazz or classical music? Neither of them interests me. 또는 Neither of them interest me.
